Rows 1, 4, 5 and 8 (RS): *K11, p2, k2, p2, k1; rep from *.

Rows 2, 3, 6 and 7: *K1, p8, [k2, p2] twice, k1; rep from * .

Row 9: Knit.  

Rows 10, 13, 14 and 17: *[K2, p2] twice, k10; rep from *.

Rows 11, 12, 15 and 16: *[K2, p2] twice, k2, p8; rep from *.  

Row 18: Knit.

When working back and forth

Cast on a multiple  of 18 sts plus 10. 

Rows 1 and 5 (RS): *K11, p2, k2, p2, k1; rep from * ending with k10.

Rows 2 and 6: PI, k8, p1, *p1, [k2, p2] twice, k8, p1; rep from * to end. 

Rows 3 and 7: 'K1, p8, [k2, p2] twice, k1; rep from * ending last rep k1, p8, k1.

Rows 4 and 8: P10, *p1, k2, p2, k2, p11; rep  from * to end. 

Row 9: Knit. 

Rows 10 and 14: [P2, k2] twice, p2, *p10, [k2, p2] twice; rep from * to end. 

Rows 11 and 15: *[K2, p2] twice, k2, p8; rep from *, ending [k2, p2] twice, k2.  

Rows 12 and 16: [P2, k2] twice, p2, *k8, [p2, k2] twice, p2; rep from * to end.
